Garbage will be collected weekly. Recycling will be collected every other week.

Collection Days:
Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday

If a collection day falls on a holiday Monday through Friday, collection for that week will occur one day later than the regularly scheduled day. These holidays include: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

Garbage, recycling and yard waste must be placed at curbside by 6:30 am on the collection day.

Garbage, recycling and yard waste must be sorted and in separate containers. Items cannot be co-mingled.

GARBAGE COLLECTION

One 95-gallon toter is provided by Land and Lakes. Additional 95-gallon toters are available to rent at a cost of $3.00 per month. For information on renting a 95-gallon toter, call: 708-720-5100.

One bulk item will be allowed per week. Bulk items include:

  • Chairs
  • Couches
  • Mattresses
  • Furniture pieces
  • Air conditioning units
  • Water heaters
  • Carpeting

Please note clarifications to above:

As a safety precaution, please remove the doors from refrigerators and freezers.

Carpet must be cut, rolled and bundled into 4-foot lengths. Each roll must not weigh more than 50 pounds. Carpeting and padding must be secured with tape or string.

For white goods and tire removal, call Land & Lakes Disposal Services at 708-720-5100 to schedule. (Note: Refrigerator and air conditioning units must have Freon removed by a qualified service technician prior to pick up.)

One to four tires (without rims) will be picked up from the curb on collection day.

Bulk household clean up and construction debris can be accepted at the curbside for service. Special arrangements for an estimate through Land & Lakes Disposal must be made one to two days prior to removal from the curbside.

White goods will be removed on the regular service day and must be placed at the curb for removal.

Restricted Items for GARBAGE COLLECTION
The following items will NOT be collected:

  • Landscape waste mixed with garbage
  • Roofing materials
  • Large automotive parts
  • Sod, dirt, boulders and rocks
  • Fencing
  • Permanent swimming pools
  • Liquids
  • Autofluff
  • Medical wastes
  • Charcoal and hot ash
  • Materials from floods or fires or evictions.
  • Materials too large for the collection vehicle or for one person to lift.
  • Hazardous waste such as flammable liquids (gasoline, solvents, paints), RCRA hazardous wastes, radioactive wastes, automotive batteries, corrosive materials (acids/bases), PCB wastes, toxic materials, insecticides, oil, anti-freeze.

RECYCLING

All households in Chicago Ridge received two, blue 18-gallon recycling bins.Replacement bins are available by calling 708-720-5100.

Recycling must be placed for collection no later than 6:30 am on the day of service.

All recyclable materials will be collected on the same day of service as garbage and landscape waste material.

LANDSCAPE WASTE

All landscape waste must be placed at curbside for collection no later than 6:30 am on the day of service.

Yard waste will be picked up from April 1st through November 30th.

There is NO additional charge for this service. Yard waste is included in the cost of your disposal service.

Yard waste must be separate from garbage and recycling.

Yard waste must be placed in a biodegradable PAPER yard waste bag available at local retail stores or in a CLEARLY identified container that is no greater than 35-gallons and weighs no more than 50 pounds.

ALL reusable containers for yard waste must be labeled “Yard Waste Only.” Yard waste stickers are available at the Village of Chicago Ridge for no charge.

Sod is not yard waste and will not be collected.

Brush and branches must be contained, bagged, or bundled and tied. All pieces must be cut into 4-foot lengths or less. Branches should be less than 2-1/2” in diameter.

Shrubs and brush must be free of stone and dirt.
